I love knitting. I basically haven't put down my needles since I first learned nine years ago.
But even though my list of things to knit keeps on growing, I have this desire to learn other crafts. Knitting will always be my default craft, but sometimes it's fun to branch out. It also helps me to work on my perfectionist tendencies. Sometimes, if I am not instantly successful at something, I want to abandon it.
Embroidery, especially cross stitch, is something I've been wanting to learn for a long time. Between Sue of the Legacy Knitz podcast always encouraging her viewers to pick up stitching and the fact that I recently inherited cases of DMC floss from a fellow crafter, I finally took the plunge. I bought this set of Anne of Green Gables patterns. I started yesterday, and I love it. I'm glad I started small, but I'm enjoying the process of doing another fiber related craft. It's not as mindless as knitting can be, but it's still fun.
Have you tried cross stitching or another craft?
