I am awful at choosing favorites. Favorite books, movies, songs, foods...anything. So, when people find out that I love to read, they usually ask what my favorite book is. Usually I spout off favorite authors and series, and for the past few years one of my absolute favorite series has been The Lunar Chronicles. They are basically a sci-fi retelling of fairy tales, but the character development and story lines are so much more than just taking fairy tale characters and plunking them down in a different place. Okay, I'll end my rant now, but I do encourage you to read the books for yourself.
The author of The Lunar Chronicles recently published a collection of short stories that give some back stories for the characters. I got this book, Stars Above, in the mail this past week, so I have been enjoying diving back into the world of the series.
This week's "knitting while reading" project has been the Settler Shawl by Libby of Truly Myrtle. The garter stitch of the shawl body has been so relaxing. This will be my first shawl, so it has been fun to work on this project.
