I'm not sure what it is, but I love colorwork knitting, especially with fingering weight yarns. So, when I listened to the latest episode of the New Hampshire Knits podcast (one of my favorite knitting podcasts) and Claire announced that she was hosting a colorwork mittens knit-along (KAL), I was so excited. This will be the first actual KAL that I have participated in, so we will see how this goes.
After searching through various patterns, I decided to knit the Prickly Thistle Mittens by Spilly Jane who is kindly offering 50% her mittens patterns, so I ended up purchasing this pattern as well as her Police Box Mittens. If you want to join in the mitten KAL, there's still time! It just started yesterday, so feel free to check out the podcast episode and discussion thread in the Ravelry group.
So far, I have a couple of inches knit on my first mitten. But, since I have no photos of my progress, I figured I would post some photos of my gauge swatch instead. You can follow my progress on Instagram or use the tag #nhkmittenkal on Instagram to see all of the other projects.
